Claremore Train Day

October 14 @ 1:00 pm - 1:30 pm

The Big Boy locomotive, one of the world’s largest trains will pass through Oklahoma and stop in Claremore on October 14th. Union Pacific Railroad will be showcasing teh 1.1 million pound train as it travels through 10 states, including Oklahoma. Big Boy No. 4014 was delivered to Union Pacific in December 1941 and retired two decades afdter traveling more than a million miles. 25 Big Boys were built during World War II, with only eight surviving. No. 4014 is the only one that is still in operation and is the world’s largest operating steam locomotive.

The Lilace District in partnership with the MoH and Claremore Mainstreet will celebrate the day with a Pop Up Train Exhivit at the museum along with special attractions and sales at Claremore’s Mainstreet businesses.  The train stops at 1:15PM on the Florence Avenue crossing.  Come join the festivities and be a part of this piece of Claremore’s rich “train” history.
