Lucious Selmon

Biography

Former Claremore High School Assistant Football and Wrestling Coach and teacher of Current Events and United States History.   He is the son of All American Lucious Selmon of the infamous Selmon brothers who played on the OU National Championship teams.

Lucious was born and raised in Norman, Oklahoma.   He graduated from Norman High School as part of the Class of 1996.  Following high school, Lucious attended the University of Oklahoma earning a B.A. in Communications, a M.A. in Human Relations and a M.S. in Sports Management. Upon graduation, he interned with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Lucious is the proud father of twins, Lucious IV and Laikyn.

Lucious came to Claremore Public Schools in 2015 when he was hired to coach football for the Junior High School.   Since then, he has worked his way up to coaching at the high school and has also taken on teaching history.  When asked why he teaches, his response is that he enjoys working with students to prepare them for the world they will enter and eventually lead. Teaching now allows him to have a hand in the future. If kids believe in you, they will do whatever they can for you.  If they believe you care about them, not just football, but family and academics and if you don’t lie to them, they will buy in. Lucious takes that trait from his dad and he tries to do the same when he coaches and teaches.
