MARY SNODDY

One of three in the first graduating class at Claremore High School following integration and Oklahoma Department of Human Services employee

Biography

Ms. Mary Alice (Brown) Snoddy was born in 1938.  She graduated in 1956 from Claremore High School as part of the first class following integration. She was one of three Black seniors who had previously gone to school at Lincoln. 

Following graduation, she later married another CHS graduate – William Rosea Snoddy Sr. from her high school class. They were parents to William Jr., Rolanda, and Michael. Mary attended college on the hill, where she achieved Phi Theta Kappa academic honors and later graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. 

Mary spent her professional career in counseling and social work for Rogers and Tulsa County OKDHS. She ultimately became County Director of Nowata County OKDHS. Mary lives in Nowata and has served on numerous boards and civic organizations throughout her career.
